MINORITY RIGHTS IN CENTRAL ASIA: INSIGHTS FROM KAZAKHSTAN, KYRGYZSTAN, AND UZBEKISTAN

This paper explores the state of minority rights in three Central Asian countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. These share a lot similarities terms their post-Soviet authoritarian legacy weakness democratic institutions. The repressive political landscapes states have taken tolls on groups, leaving them discriminated against, mistreated, severely disadvantaged. Minority violations range from ethnic religious discrimination to state-sponsored homophobia. Even though leadership changes positively affected human countries, there is still slow pace reforms. Overall, domestic Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan not yielded considerable results so far alleviating plight groups across these countries.
